Truly great architecture possesses magical qualities that
transcend mere commodity or structural integrity. By
definition the "Archimage" (root Magi) is an enchanter, a chief
wizard or a person of exceptional
wisdom who can see into the future and who possesses magical
skills. It is the striving to produce the magical
qualities inherent in great architecture that led the founders
to the name Archimage Architects. The name was appropriate
given the design mission of the partners and given the root of
architecture is arch and image means a mental representation;
idea; conception. The partners founded the firm to explore their own
design direction and to employ design and building strategies
that are environmentally responsible, a trend that was not in
vogue in 1991. It is the combination of striving to create
enclosure that has the magical qualities inherent in great
architecture with being responsive to sustainable design
principles that is essential to sucessful architectural design.
The partners of Archimage work hard to understand their clients
needs and aspirations by listening and researching. The
obvious as well as the not so obvious is explored with every
design to expose all the available opportunities.
